Medicare Annual Enrollement is October 15th - Dec 7th
The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), sometimes called the Annual Election Period or “open enrollment,” is a set time each year when people with Medicare can make changes to their coverage.
What you can do during AEP:
-
Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan (Part C).
-
Switch from a Medicare Advantage plan back to Original Medicare.
-
Change from one Medicare Advantage plan to another.
-
Join, drop, or switch a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (Part D).
-
Review and update coverage based on changes to premiums, copays, drug formularies, or provider networks for the coming year.
When changes take effect:
-
Any changes you make during AEP take effect on January 1 of the following year.
This period is especially important because Medicare Advantage and Part D plans often change their benefits and costs each year, and AEP is the main time you can adjust your plan to fit your needs.
